Urine drug testing, whether a part of a rehabilitation treatment plans or simply as a preventative measure in drug of abuse testing, using these tests will increase awareness, monitor recent drug use, and can assist doctors with prescription drugs or prescription medications.

Multi-Drug Test Cups

Our rapid test cups can be completed usually within 8 minutes. To understand more about our urine tests, please follow the general guidelines below. Collect all necessary items before beginning the drug test. This includes a stopwatch, eye protection, a face mask, a pen, and paper. Most of the drug tests from Overdose Reduction have an expiration date of up to three years after the product is received. Check to verify that the drug test has not expired.

  • Bring the drug screening cup, specimen, and/ or controls to room temperature (59-78 degrees F) before use or stored at refrigerated temperatures. Remove the cup from the sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible.
  • Date and initial the label.
  • Provide a sample of your urine in the testing cup and close the cap of the test cup tightly. Start the stopwatch and be prepared to monitor it until 4-5 minutes have passed.
  • Verify that the cap to the screening tests is completely closed and tight.
  • Remove the peel-off label.
  • Check the temperature strip label 2-4 minutes after urine sample collection. Green will appear to indicate the temperature of the urine specimen. The proper range for an unadulterated specimen is 90-100 degrees F (32-38 degrees C).
  • Urine test results are indicated by the presence or absence of colored band(s) in the result area of the test strips. The result should be read at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 8 minutes.
  • Positive test results must be confirmed by another drug testing method. Send the cup and urine specimen intact to a toxicology laboratory for confirmation.

Drug Test Strips

Overdose Reductions Drug Test Strips can be easily used with minimal effort, providing a fast and accurate solution for home tests or forensic drug testing. Drug Testing Strips are a more specified way of screening for drug use as each strip detects only one type of drug at one cutoff level. In order to begin using the test strips, obtain a cup or container to hold the collected urine specimen. Make sure that you have all of the items necessary in order to begin the test. These items would include:

  • A container (for the urine specimen to collect)
  • Gloves
  • Eye protection
  • Stop Watch
  • Remove the drug test from its sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible. For best results, perform the assay within an hour.
  • To begin, hold the strip by the end, where you can see the product name. Make sure to avoid touching the strip membrane.
  • Holding the strip vertically, dip the test strip in the urine specimen for at least 10-15 seconds. Do not immerse above the maximum line (MAX) on the test strip. That’s about 1/5th of the way up the strip.
  • After 10-15 seconds, remove the strip from the specimen and place it on a non-absorbent flat surface. Start the timer and wait for the colored band(s) to appear. Finally, read the result at 5 minutes. Do not interpret it after 8 minutes.

Interpretation of Results

There are a few factors to consider when evaluating your drug test results. It is important to evaluate test results no later than 8 minutes after the specimen is submitted. Please make sure to view the test results in optimum lighting. Drug Test results are either Positive, Negative, or Invalid. This is how to interpret drug test results.

  • Positive Results: This is when only one colored band appears, in the control region(c). No colored band appears in the test region (T) for the drug in question. A positive result indicated that the drug concentration exceeds the detectable level.
  • Negative Results: This is when two colored bands appear on the membrane. One band appears in the control region © and another band appears in the test region (T) for the drug in question. A negative result indicates that the drug concentration is below the detectable level.
  • Invalid: This is when the control band fails to appear. Results from any test which has not produced a control band at the specified read time must be discarded. Please review the procedure and repeat it with a new test. If the problem persists, discontinue using the kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
