What is Methadone?
Methadone is a synthetic opioid medication primarily used in the treatment of opioid dependence and chronic pain management. As a long-acting opioid agonist, it works by binding to the same receptors in the brain that are affected by opioids like heroin and morphine, thereby reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Methadone’s slow onset and long duration of action make it effective in helping individuals taper off or abstain from illicit opioid use.
In opioid addiction treatment, methadone maintenance programs provide a controlled and supervised approach to manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce the risk of relapse, and support recovery. Additionally, methadone is employed for chronic pain management, particularly when other pain medications may be less effective. However, its use requires careful monitoring due to the potential for dependency, and individuals taking methadone should do so under the guidance of healthcare professionals.

Test Instructions:
- Remove the drug test from its sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible. For best results, perform the assay within an hour.
- After that, hold the strip by the end, where you can see the product name. So, to avoid contamination, do not touch the strip membrane.
- Then, holding the strip vertically, dip the test strip in the urine specimen for at least 10-15 seconds. Do not immerse above the maximum line (MAX) on the test strip. That’s about 1/5th of the way up the strip.
- After the drug test has finished, then remove the strip from the specimen and place it on a non-absorbent flat surface. Start the timer and wait for the colored band(s) to appear. Finally, read the result at 5 minutes. Do not interpret it after 10 minutes.
Evaluating Your Test Results
Positive Test Result: Only one colored band appears, in the control region ©. No apparent colored band appears in the test region (T)
Negative Test Result: Two colored bands appear on the membrane. One brand appears in the control regions © and another band appears in the test region (T).
Invalid Test Result: The control band fails to appear. Results from any test which has not produced a control band at the specified read time must be discarded. Please review the procedure and repeat with a new test. If the problems persist, discontinue using the kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
